- July 4 - Independence Day
|
Summer is a time to slow down, have fun, and create meaningful memories with family and friends. While a break from the school-year schedule is important, maintaining some healthy routines can help children feel balanced, supported, and ready for a successful return to school. Focusing on rest, opportunities to recharge, and simple daily routines can promote both physical and emotional well-being throughout the summer months.
Try some of these wellness activities this summer:
- Take a family walk or bike ride in the morning or evening.
- Set aside 20–30 minutes each day for reading.
- Maintain a consistent bedtime and wake-up routine.
- Explore creative activities such as drawing, painting, or crafting.
- Spend time outdoors exploring local parks and nature trails.
- Stay hydrated and encourage healthy snacks throughout the day.
- Enjoy screen-free family activities such as board games, puzzles, or cooking together.
- Practice mindfulness through deep breathing, stretching, or yoga.
- Encourage children to help with household responsibilities to build independence and confidence.
- Set a personal summer goal, such as learning a new skill or completing a reading challenge.
Remember, wellness doesn't require a packed schedule. Sometimes the best moments come from slowing down, connecting with loved ones, and taking time to rest and recharge. We hope your family enjoys a safe, healthy, and joyful summer!
* If your student needs mental health support during the summer months, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Abke at tabke@splendoraisd.org.
