Last year, Calea obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston with the highest honors and received the Community Health and Service Award. She is currently working at Houston Methodist and plans to further her career with a Master’s Degree in Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner.

When asked what does it mean to be a SHS Wildcat, Calea replied, “I am proud of where I came from and the progress I have made.“

Casie Riddick (née Everitt)

Casie Riddick (née Everitt) is a proud 2005 graduate of Splendora High School, where she excelled as both an athlete and scholar. An active participant in FFA, she demonstrated leadership and teamwork from an early age. Casie was not only a star on the softball field, playing as a freshman catcher and contributing to the varsity team's state championship win in 2002, but she also played varsity volleyball throughout high school. Her high school achievements include being a member of the National Honor Society, inclusion in Who’s Who, and earning 1st Team All-State honors in softball for three consecutive years. Her athletic excellence earned her a full scholarship to Sam Houston State University, where she continued to shine as a four-time All-Conference selection. In 2008, she was honored to be selected for the college All-Star team that competed against the U.S. Olympic softball team.

Casie earned a degree in business from Sam Houston and later obtained her alternative certification to teach and coach within Splendora ISD. She began her coaching career as an assistant for the Splendora softball team and was promoted to head coach in 2010. After several successful years, she stepped away from coaching and teaching in May 2013 to focus on raising her growing family.

In March 2013, Casie married the love of her life, Nathan Riddick, and together they have been blessed with four children. She currently teaches and coaches the volleyball team at Porter Christian Academy, maintaining her passion for sports and education. Casie remains deeply involved in her faith community at Porter Apostolic Pentecostal Church, where she serves in leadership. Her husband, Nathan, is a licensed minister, and together they are committed to serving their church and community. Their favorite hobbies include running their children to Bible quizzing events and serving in various capacities at their church.

Jon Edwards

Jon Edwards graduated from Splendora High School in 2005. During middle and high school, Jon was involved in music, marching band, and computer science, and achieved his CompTIA A+ computer mechanic certification his junior year. He joined the U.S. Navy the following September. In the Navy, he travels the world as an Aviation Electronics Technician and has deployed to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology from Excelsior College in April 2021. Jonathan is currently the Generator and Electrical Instruments Branch Chief Petty Officer at Naval Air Station Lemoore, CA. He is married to Brittany and has three children, Truman, Audrey, and Charlie. Jonathan is an amateur radio enthusiast and writes technical articles for various electronics websites.

What does it mean to be a SHS Wildcat?  “I like to think my humble upbringing helps me understand my Sailors. Many people coming into the Navy are seeing outside their hometown for the first time, and the adjustment isn't always easy. I also embraced science and technology in high school, setting the foundation for my lifelong affinity for electrical and mechanical engineering. Most of all, I learned the value of hard work to reach my goals.“
