Financial Transparency

In accordance with Board Policy CFC(LEGAL) - Accounting Audits, the District must conduct an annual financial audit. This audit must be performed by a certified public accountant or a public accountant who holds a permit from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.
Texas school districts may choose to begin their fiscal year on either July 1 or September 1. Splendora ISD's fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30. The District adopted this fiscal year schedule in 2008.

In accordance with Board Policy CDA(LEGAL) - Other Revenues: Investment, a written report of all investment transactions covered by the Public Funds Investment Act must be submitted to the Board of Trustees each quarter.
Quarterly investment reports are available for the current year. Reports from prior years include the final report from the fourth quarter.

The state's school financial accountability rating system, known as the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve these practices. The system is designed to encourage Texas public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.
