Heath Lucas, a proud member of the SHS Class of 1985, was a dedicated Wildcat from kindergarten through 12th grade. In high school, he excelled as a District tennis champion for three out of four years and was active in theater. Heath earned a full theater scholarship to San Jacinto College and later transferred to Sam Houston State University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in education and teaching certification. He furthered his education with a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix.
Heath began his educational career in Tomball ISD, teaching 4th to 6th grade, before joining Splendora ISD, where he taught 6th grade for two years. His leadership skills led to roles as an assistant principal at Splendora Intermediate, Piney Woods, and Splendora High School. He became the principal of Piney Woods in 2015 and retired in December 2023.
Heath is a proud father of four beautiful daughters and a doting grandfather to seven grandchildren. He also enjoys spending every day with his sweetheart, Nicole. An adventurer at heart, Heath has climbed mountains, hiked through the jungles of Ecuador, skydived, explored deep caves, and recently hiked over 600 miles of the Appalachian Trail.
What does it mean to be a Wildcat? “My Wildcat blood runs deep. Retirement was a difficult decision because I have been part of the Wildcat tradition for 57 years. Our Wildcat community has always been close, and I’m proud to be part of it!”
